It sounds great but you'd probably have to tear it down and rebuild it 3-4 times a month. My brother knows this guy who drives a actual monster truck, if the oil is a little different color he rebuilds it, btw 1600hps on Alcohol.

I run a 462 chev. Valves float at 8400, but the motor's balanced to 9200..... 525 horse, 600 pounds of torque, 2800 RPM stall converter, idles between 750-900, single 4 barrel carb, (CAN run 87 octane, but you have to retard the hell out of the timing)
Where I live, I'm a big fan of horsepower. There's not much finessing your way through anything up here really. As an aside, you don't need to run a 5000 RPM converter unless used in a drag application. You wouldn't be able to stop your tires from spinning.. You want your tires to begin rotation a while before peak performance, but slightly after your engine builds power so as to maintain some semblance of a trail rig. If you were mud-racing however, it'd be nice to blow your tires up in smoke just before peak performance (it'll equate to higher tire speeds, and typically faster times)
just under 28,000 for my engine.

Peak torque of a engine dictates the stall speed needed for a converter. Liqiud I by no means meant to shoot you down, I would love to have this motor to but why build a motor to run on pump gas that would be only for the strip.

Hey mr 4wd, you should come out to some of our mud bogs.you would fit right in! with that kind of money in your engine you should make some money at races with it.

Deal, I'll go. You be my sponsor, and come pick me up. Last time I drove to Edmonton, it cost me 240 dollars. I drove back for 280... (433k one way). That doesn't factor in bogger wear, tranny heat, and tie rod ends wearing out after 2000K... With a truck like this, I can't even to rent a U-haul to pull my ass around. I hate reading about all the races I miss on here. I'll be at an event some day

Goliath, you don't need a high RPM stall converter for 4x4ing. You don't want the engine to be redlining just to putt around the trail. You want a WAY lower RPM. For more than just a few reasons... You want to have your tires turning before your power band (so as not to start digging holes instantaneously). It's nice to have your power on tap when you really roll onto the throttle and already have your tires spinning (just to get em moving faster) You want some semblance of good mileage. Overall, it makes for better trailability. By all means however, throw an engine in your truck that makes 800 horse at 7000 RPM, and put in a 6500 stall converter.
Drag racing, is another story altogether. You want optimum hookup at your engine's highest output level, because it takes power to move through 1,320' in a respectable time. If you put power to the wheels too early, you'd spend too much time getting into your powerband, where as if it were too late you'd spend too much time winding out your engine and shifting gears.

I tow my truck to the races,i'm not sure what you mean by ( a truck like this) but all my race trucks fit on a trailer! i would never drive a race truck to the track.(if it is out of town)and when i win i give the money back to the track for supporting the sport!.

By a truck like this I mean, big, heavy, lots of horsepower, boggers to vibrate everything loose etc.... It's my daily driver, so saving money/driving that is sort of an oxymoron. I'm working on it though, hopefully next year (I've been saying that for 3 years)

FolkAuto, I'm not exactly sure. I'm pretty sure he said 1600hp, but could be wrong. Hes from the hat and its apparently the same type has big foot and all those. I haven't seen it but theres only a few in Canada that can run in the same asscoiation like NHRA or whatever the us monster trucks run in and his truck is one of them or something.

If he's from Medicine Hat that would be Ged Barcroft and the Sheer Insanity Monster Truck. I know they just sprung for Merlin heads but I have no idea what kind of pony power the Janke <sp?> engine produces!

sign me up! hey at $6000 dollars I'll through one in my deck truck just to make the trip to races faster. I believe when all is said and done that motor (I know this is a huge range but)is around 15-25000 dollars. I think it was more the 25 side though..can't remeber.

For sure at least 25K iv'e heard some in the 50k range, just thought it might put out 1500 ponies cause that's what both Don Frankishes put out. ???? $6000 that would be a sweet deal.
