Has anybody actually known of anyone running 5.71 gears?

We have all heard of that ratio being bad, but I've also heard bad things about QUALITY GEAR but have had no problems with mine. We've all heard of burfields blowing up, but I've never seen it. We've all heard of EZ LOCKERS blowing up, but mine is still doing fine.

A friend of mine is looking for testimonials and not just more mag reviews.

He has blown a tranny and a t-case with his dual tranny set-up and now wants to go back to single tranny and 5.71's to turn his 38.5 Boggers.

as for the stuff above i can only provide input on the EZ locker as that is whats in my chev. ive had no trouble with it running 38 swampers and about 300 horse. I boought it used came out of a fullsize ford truck running 38s with probably about 400 horse 429. so id say go for it.

I don't know if I can make it this weekend. I have a crack in my rear axle housing and am planning on changing it this weekend since the toy is my daily driver.

I've been leaking gear oil for a while now but after the last trip out the crack is leaking worse so I don't want to put any extra strain on it.

my toy is running chev power, about 350 horse with 200 xtra on the bottle, i switch between 37" and cut 38.5" boggers stock axels with 5:29 ratio. i have used my lock rite for 3 years, toasted gearsets around it and never had a problem until the locker moved up front (replaced with welded pot in back) now only a couple of birdfeilds down but still hapee
