For the Thanksgiving weekend I camped out with the Ground Pounders at the Waiparous airstrip. Quite a few people made it out to this yearly event, I was impressed as it was my first time!

Ken, Lisa and Kimmy (our friendly Jeep Stuff pals) came out in Lisa's new pavement princess for the day on Sunday to join the trail ride and feast. I decided to check out the XJ thing so I hopped in with them for the journey. I can’t remember the exact number but I’m guessing there were about 8 or so Jeeps along for the planned ‘Girly run’. We headed down Waiparous Valley and turned off to the right onto???? trail. Ken was a little unsure of how the stock Jeep would do but figured if it gets bad we’ll turn around…. 1st Lesson to be learned, Ken doesn’t turn around! The snow was about 2 feet deep for the whole trail and I believe our leader broke trail for a good portion of the ride…. Next lesson to be learnt this is great for the first guy but by the time the back of the group comes along the snow becomes an icy skating rink!! Let's just say MissBehavin and Missfit are a little shaken up after we found out that Lisa's new Jeep is more suited as a toboggan.... since sliding down numerous hills out of control was more it’s style!! We managed to strap on some chains (just a little too big) to help out the control aspect and Ken did remarkably well under the circumstances!! However, just when he thought he was in the clear that’s when IT happened! We were descending an unexpected descent with a nasty corner up ahead and as soon as we came skidding around the corner we knew we were in for it! Unfortunately in order for 'Killer' Ken to avoid a massive Jeep bumper humping pile up he needed to plow into a tree hard head on. We are all OK just shaken up and sore.... Lisa’s princess or should I say toboggan is not quite so purdy anymore

So to end our adventure Kimmy, Lisa and I (not to mention quite a few others ended up hoofing it to the road as finishing the trail in a jeep was pretty much a death sentence!! Even walking out turned into one long icy bum slide downhill for most (well since I do the snowboard thing every once in a while I managed to surf the hill). So once again I must say it’s never a dull moment with our Jeep Stuff friends….Lisa managed to snap some good pic’s so perhaps she’ll share them sometime soon! The dinner was fantastic and the Ground Pounders hospitality was extremely appreciated as this girl originally went out for an afternoon trip and ended up staying 3 day’s! Thanx for everything GP’s!

So how did everyone else make out?

P.S. Not sure about MissBehaven today but I ache real good… massages are more than welcome
