My friend owns and operates a 1981 Jeep Cj-7 with a 1969 amc 343 motor. Does anyone know what automatic tranny will mate with this particular application? Thanks!

Wow, I thought I knew my engines, but a 343?? Never heard of that one, 69 off hand only had 360 390 and 401 for V8s.

Could and probably am wrong though?!?!?

If I am not mistaken(Which I probally am) the 343 is basically a Factory stroked 318 ... So any tranny that will mate to that will would I suspect would work

Previous to 1970 the 343 would normaly have a flex plate to mount to a borg warner t10 or t11, but many of these engines have the flex plate changed to fit a torque flite 727.
