Since I get about as much flex as a piece of angle iron. I've been thinkin of removing the trac bars. I have already ditched the front sway bar. Handling really hasn't changed since I did that. With trac bars gone is this going make it too dangerous. Is it better to make or get a disconnect system for this? I assume that shouldn't be too hard to set up. Tell me what ya think.

I have a 94 YJ with 2.5" lift springs and a 3" body lift

I have had my sway bars and my trac bars off for a while. I don't notice a big differance. The leafsprings seem to be to stiff to provide alot of flex. The revolver shackes seem to be where its at but they have a good price tar I think I heard $600 for a pair but I'm sure you could shop arround. I hear they flex to ten inches long at full extention but they still ride like normal in the city. You could ask Galiath about them he has a pair for sale.

Hey Mike

I ditched my sway bar and both trac bars a long time ago and have no intentions on putting them back on I do notice slight body roll on corners and minor bump steer, but it's something one can get use to and adjust your driving habits accordingly I'm running 9000's front and rear so I just stiffen them up for town driving and there's less body roll, but it makes the ride a little stiffer, but it's liveable. If your running with a soft top, you'll have less body roll as well. The flex is, definitely without a doubt, totally worth it (huge difference). If your going to do this, make sure you check your rear shaft for bind at full droop, especially without an sye. Also just some advice that you probably already know about, but without the tracs and sway, take your time and please be careful, and get use to the handling. Drive it like a Jeep not a sports car ~hint~

Now when I do my soa/axle swaps I'm going high clearance steering, so no worry about bump steer, but because of increased c/g, I'm fabing up 2 perminent and clampable telescopic trac bars with zerks for the for the slip joints. I can clamp them for town/hyway and disco for off road

I figured as much I just wanted the reassurance before I did it. I understand about the change in driving habits. Already has changed. I used to be a 19 yr old kid that drove a mustang. Now I am almost a 30 yr old father that drives a big wheeled underpowered 4x4. Much different driving habits let me tell you.

I would like to swap my 5000's for 9000's but that is way down the list still. Need a front locker & winch before that. The front locker might get nixed until I do the axle swap though (Dana 44's all with disc brakes) . The shocks will get swaped then at same time I'll put in a SYE, SOA(or coil conversion, I haven't decided), and 35's or 37's (that too I haven't decided which to shoot for) At that point I may start looking at swapin in a bigger engine.........see where I going. I have to remember little steps Mike little steps. This stuff gets me too excited!!

One question WhyJ what is "increased c/g"?

c/g = center of gravity. It depends on how/what you use your rig for. For extreme off camber trails and rock face situations I'll trim the metal to fit the rubber before I go up too high. I've been in 5 rolls so far, 1 in someone else's rig and 4 with my own, and all 5 were right offs The last one scared the b-Jesus out a me, and I ended up in the hospital. Like yourself, I've calmed down alot in my old age (37) and have a wife and 2 kids that I think about.

Sounds to me like you're gonna have a kickn' rig when you're done I'm with ya on the excited part. My rig plans are gonna be on hold for a bit, just til I get my shop/garage built, then I can move all my tools & equipment in and do some serious kick a** fabn' (double reverse tiangulated 4link 1/4 ellip combos, frame & axle lengthening/shortening etc...) now I'm getting all excited

Sounds like your someone I need to befriend ie the fab shop, your endless amount of good ideas and knowledge.

5 rolls eh? Wow. That is experience that I am not very interested in gaining. Still have yet to have that happen but then again I have kept myself away from those situations so far. Mostly because my rig set up (too small) has not allowed for me to get into those perdicaments. But as my rig gets bigger and my confidence and ability grow it is bound to happen I'm sure.

Mike, experience is one thing, but being wise enough not to get into predicaments like I've have, looks the best from my point these days ~me admitting stupidity big time~

Well, I don't know if I'd wanna trust the ideas from a guy who's gotten himself in so many wrecks I think you're braver than I. Ya know, there's a reason for those wrecks ~lmao~
