Hi, I bought a 76 jeep CJ5 and I am trying to replace the front brakes. The person that sold it to me told me that it had the original front drum brakes changed to disc brakes from a 78 ford bronco. I bought pads and rotors and they do look the same as what I am taking out but I was wondering, would have been that easy to change drums to discs? I pulled it all apart and it turns out the bearing are shot so I'm replacing them too. When I compare it to what my haynes manual shows, it looks mostly like a front end from a 1980-86 Jeep. Anyone ever have any experience with this? Could it be that the rotors and pads from a 78 bronco also fit the front axle from a jeep with disc brakes? I know that AMC would often use parts from assorted manufacturers. Does anyone know of a good way to identify my front axle? I can't find any stamped numbers anywhere on it.

ive never seen that before but i know jeep and ford share alot of the same parts but i think he has switched the front diff its less trouble to do that then putting discs on a drum set up but he may have wanted to try it so who knows for sure. jeff
