Is there an easy way to manually get the front into 4wd? When its colder then 0 then the vacuum won't kick it in. If its warmer then 0 then no problem vacuum works fine.

Plans are in the work to rip the whole vacuum shit out and replaced with that Posi-Cable but I don't have it yet. Soon hopefully

I want to go wheeln on the weekend and I don't want to be stuck in 2wd. Anyone got anytime that could quickly show me how to put into 4wd....or talk me through it.....before the weekend preferably. there a in it for ya!

Electrical lines are fine and there seems to be lots of vacumm suck at the front diff. Like I said if its warm enough then theres no problem.

So Paul are you coming out on Staurday then?

Just went out and checked again.....vacuum pressure kinda seems weak...maybe there is a crack in the line somewhere.

Another question there is two tits on the vacuum line.....are they both suppose to have suck or just the one?? One is all there is right now.

Hey Mike

Was wondering how ya was, hadn't heard from ya in a while. Those shift forks have a hard time moving everything (fork and collar) while the diff fluid is cold and thick, which is why you have that problem when it's cold. Like trying to move a spoon through frozen syrup Even if there's a slight leak in the vacumm (pinhole) makes moving through that cold thick syrup even worse and is almost impossible. A lot of times where you'll find a vacumm leak is just under the battery, caused by the corrosive effect of the battery falling from the top and hardening & possibly cracking the vacumm lines. If you drive around for a while and warm the fluid up, just the splines, collar, side gears, etc. turning will help do this, as long as it's not too cold, you should be able to shift the front. I don't work on Friday, so if you want I could try and help ya problem solve the system if you haven't got it fixed yet

Since the vac motor is the lowest point in the system any moisture that gets in the system collects in the motor. Remove the motor, warm it up and then while holding the motor upside move the fork back and forth untill water quits dripping out. You can test it by sucking on one of the 'tits' and seeing if you can move the fork. If you cann't its ok. Don't get your fingers caught in the fork, it hurts!

Excellent point cLAY. Water in the shift motor or the diff fluid will freeze and cause cold weather problems. Good call cLAY
