Somewhere is the early '90s(92' maybe) after Chrysler bought out AMC they switched from the old Renix FI system that AMC was using on the XJ to their own system. This along with some head changes brought up the HP maybe 10HP but at the cost of low end torque. Its not a big deal really. Both systems work well and put out comparable HP and torque. I would be more concerned with the Peugoet 5spd tranny that was mounted behind the non HO motors(upto 1990). They are only good for about 200,000 - 250,000kms and are NOT rebuildable.
