Hi everybody, just commited to buying a new daily driver and have a couple of questions.

k, first off how big of tires could I put on it without having to do any trimming?
what kind of lift kits are available and which one is the best??
will thornbirds work better then boggers in the mud?
is it possible to drop a small block 350 in place of the original motor??
thank you all for your time and any answers will be greatly appreciated.

oh ya its for my 2003 VW Jetta TDI(diesel oh ya!! )

ok, well first off you should be good to run 39.5s, 44s might be pushing it a little, but you should just roll em up alongside to check. you don't need to lift that, you have all the clearance you could possibly dream with (Sweet choice, by the way) i would actually recommend getting good year run flats. they do awesome in the mud, and you dont need to put air in them. ever. as or the 350, unfortuneately you cannot swap the two out. instead, put the 350 in the rear and set it up to drive the rear wheels. well, best of luck to you, hope to see you on the trails in that beast!

cool!!!!gonna run over to the tire shop right now and get me some bad boys thanks for the info about the 350 but it leads me to another question though...will I have to get stronger shocks in the rear for that???or maybe just add some ducttape to the stock ones to stiffen em up? I should be able to just use the one rad to cool both engines though right?? just need more plumbing I think. or else if I took the trunk lid off then would I have one of them fancy aircooled engines?? oooppss, just reread what I wrote, of course it would be aircooled.....duh. forgive my ignorance in these matters

oh, it's all good. we all have to start somewhere. as for the rad, i found that mounting the stock one under the front passenger underneath the car works good, because the puddles splash it and cool it down faster. for the 350, just put a big rad on the roof. for the shocks, i would say you don't need to do anything. the bigger tires can support more weight, so you should be alright.
