OK, here it goes my first post... First let me tell you guys I can change oil and give a minor tune-up but when it come to really know what Im talking about I havnet a clue so if I sound like I havent a clue "I Dont" so if I say something stupid bare with me Im still in the learn phase.
I just bought a 79 F150 with 3/4 ton axles. The back I think is a Dana and front is Spicer im unsure if its a Dana 30, 40 and so on. Here's the problem When I got the truck the one side (Front) has a shock and a coil spring it the pass side. The other side has no shock and it looks like the spring is just sitting on the axle with out the bottom plate there. Its at a wierd angle. When I drive it its kind of scarry it bounces all over the place. Im worried its going to pop out. What I need to know is there a web site out there that can explain all this to me? Ive looked at site for 79 F150's but with the axles being different it isnt much help. I know I sound ignorant but gotta learn some how.

Hey man, here's a website for you www.projectbronco.com . It's mostly for '78-'79 Broncos but F-150s are included too. And as for the front of your truck bouncing all over the place, replace that shock that you're missing and make sure the others are good. That's a good place to start. If you can post pics that would help too.

hey buddy do yourself a big favor and buy a haynes manual.it will help out alot.if there is no bottom spring perch mount don't drive the truck.if the truck is bouncing its very hard to control.i had a worn out track bar bushing that caused the truck to bounce to the point where i almost rolled it.the haynes manuals show exploded views of how the front and rear of the trucks diffs axles etcc... ussually they're under $20.hope this helps.
