Twister, you ever thought of just getting a engine out of an old plane.. You know, they run no matter what angle your at..

not always... most of the older aircraft engines were carburated and g-forces did the rest

Paul, we could always rig up a 16 cyl radial engine :P
not that it would look funny or anything...but I'm thinking more along the lines of, hmmm, maybe, a turbine? :P

In reply to:

thats been done,. but didnt work all that well.... problem with turbines is that they need to stay at a constant speed... and dont have very much low low end torque... most of the power from them occours at a very high spool speed (on another note i also dont belive there ever was a 16 cyl radial engine.... as they came in 5,7,9 cylinder banks... but for the most part were single bank engines, an example of the multi bank 36 cyl engine was installed on the hawker sea furey (4 banks of 9)

Bigfoot ...exactly what the hell do you do fer a living .... you claim to be a master of the Aviation Industry last i heard you were a Rampie and then a tin basher . a small twin engine of early 40s Vintage has an 11 cylinder Radial engine ...its called a Beech 18 ...ever heard of it? a slightlly larger aircraft of the same Vintage and engine design had 15 cylinders ....that was a DC-3 ... Also Turbines dont create low end tourqe ...ok yer right but they generate a shit load power when coupled corectly to a clutch system ...Power lift Helos are not piston Pounders ...they get their power from Turbine speed and Blade angle witch arguably is a clutch....
the main reason why a Gas turbine is impracticle for truck use is the amount of fuel it consumes and the wind up time ... Not to mention that hot starts cut their life expantcy in half

very cute mike... you have some very valid points there... i also never said i was the master of aviation... i just spend my days fixing crj's and dash-8s.... the other points you brought up i knew about, but didnt feel like listing them all cause this is about trucks... not aircraft.. but it was brought up, so i posted just a little...
