I just dropped a 5.0L from a 91 F150 into my 82 CJ7, the guy said it was runnin great when he pulled it, So I installed it(spent a pile of $ makin it fit), chopped out the useless stuff from the harness and meshed it to the Jeep harness, but now the damn thing won't fire up . Everything inside the Jeep works, It turns over, but I don't seem to have any spark and the fuel pump doesn't come on (can't get any codes off the comp either). Just thought I'd see what you guys think before I pay someone to look at it.
Thanx for any input

Assuming you used the brain box / wiring harness from the Ford, i'd start checking at the power relay.

well I checked the EEC power relay and the ignition wire from the key wasn't hooked up so did that and the fuel pump came on and got power to everything. But I still don't have spark to the plugs. I put in a new ignition coil, cap and rotor (did the plugs and wires a while ago) but still no sparky??!
My grounds are good, and I have power to the coil, any more ideas!!

Thanx

Try having the ignition module tested, if you take it off it's no charge at most major parts outlets.
If that doesn't work you need to test all wires going to the module and coil.

Well the ignition module was toast so I changed it and now I got lots of spark. But just when I think all of my ploblems are fixed, now my fuel pump isn't pumping (my $250 new fuel pump ) so I'm gonna get another tomorrow and mabey, hopefully then it will finally run.
Thanx for all the input
