Three weeks ago I purchased a Mopar 2400 stall torque converter. I had it installed by a professional at his transmission shop. Well that piece of crap lasted less then 3 weeks when it started leaking trans fluid out by the inspection plate. When I took it back to the trans shop that did it they told me the part of the T.C. that sort of plugs into the pump,(my words, not the pro's). When he took it apart, he found the T.C. was bad. I tried to take it back to the dealer where I bought it,(Sterling Heights Dodge in Sterling Heights Michigan), They basically told me tuff sh*t, no warrenty on performance parts. Now I have to spend more money to buy a different T.C. from the Fast Man, Dan Arcand. In order not to tie up one of the shops lifts with my truck, I had to have it shipped overnight at a cost of $99.00. Plus of coarse the cost of another T.C. and installation. This has been a very costly lesson. I will never buy anything from the Mopar catalog again. Screw them just like they screwed me.
I have learned that mine was not the first Mopar 2400 stall T.C. to fail. It's happened to others. I'm just telling everybody what my experience was. I'm sure there are others out there who have purchased one and have had no problems, and I'm glad for them. I have been told that this so called performance converter is nothing more then a stock converter with a little more slop built into it. No more risks for me, from now on no more Mopar parts.

Chuck. me mopar

Hey OldDog;

I like your quotes, especially the one by Dean Martin.
It's just the kind of luck I've got, and that's the truth.
At this dealer, you could raise all the stink you want, they couldn't care less. I've dealt with them since 1968 on and off.
I used to be able to raise a little hell when I was younger, but it seems the older I get, the less I want the hassle.
This is deffinetly not the dealer to go to. I swear, I don't know what I was thinking. I really love my big Ram though, it's the best DC product I've ever had. And it's going to get better as soon as this summer gets here. Some plans in the works,
gears, tires, rims, lockers, transfer case mods. And on and on and on. You know of course it never stops?
A mans gotta have a hobby right??
Well this is mine.

Take care man,,,,,,later.............Chuck

As an added insult, now I find out the t.c. wiped out the pump.
So now it's going to cost me even more money.
I'm so glad I bought a Mopar t.c.
Somebody please shoot me if I ever do anything like that again.
And to all the guy's who have had no such problems with Mopar stuff,, I am honestly very happy for you, because I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through this hassle, and expence.
However,, I still love my Dodge Ram. What did you expect???
I helped build it. And that's the only reason it's so good.........
YEAH RIGHT. Well I have to take a tiny teeny bit of credit after working for DC for 37 years.

Later girls and boys...........Chuck

A little "insider info for you" DCX37. I can tell you exactly what happened to your torque convertor with out even looking at it. I bet the bushing on the front pump was completly torn up and then resulted in the destruction of the trans pump. Mopar has had problems with getting the "correct size" torque convertor hubs. When the hub is too large is heats the shit out of the front pump bushing. When this bushing eventually goes to shit (usually under a 1000 k) the torque convertor literaly rattles away in the front pump. This ultimately destroyes the pump and sends metal fillings right through the valve body and the rest of the trans. Again a little insider info!!!!!!! Speak louder and you will get help..

sparky1;
Yeah, that's pretty much what the trans man said.
I'm just so lucky I can't beleive it.
My truck is still at the trans shop, because I told Chuck to make it as bullit proof as possible.
I can't wait to get it back. I'm wondering how the new T.C. will be?
Your a pretty smart guy sparky1, do you work on cars and trucks for a living or just as a hobby? And where did you learn about what the actual problem is??
Man I can't wait because the weather is starting to warm up now and I think and hope it's for good and not another tease like we had 2 or 3 weeks ago when it was close to 70 degrees for a few days. Then, BANG, we get a freezing rain storm and quite a bit of snow on top of that.
It had to be really bad because thats the first time in 25 years we had our power go out. Man it was cold. I'm just glad I had some of my camping equipment in the shed. A double bulb colman lantern that runs on unleaded gasoline put out just enough light. In the morning it started to get cold so I brought in my heater I use while camping when it's cold. Didn't warm up the whole place but it made me feel pretty good sitting in front of it. Man I was really roughing it, ha ha ha.

Well thank's for the info man I appreciate it.

catch ya later.........Chuck D.

No problem Chuck. Just trying to help. Up here our money does not grow on trees and I'm sure yours does not either. Hopefully you can get some assistance. Keep your old parts and hopefully a district service manager in your area will help you out. Later

The Mopar T.C. wasted the pump and tiny metal particles got into the trans and did a little damage. I had the trans man rebuild the whole trans with the strongest parts he could get. I got the truck back today, and along with it came a near heart attack. To the tune of $1804.88.
When I looked over the list of new parts and heavy duty parts he put in, it's practically a new transmission.
The shift kit really hits hard, a lot harder than I thought it would. Oh well, I'll just live with it and see how long it holds up. He gave me a 6 month warranty on the whole trans.
I've known Chuck for so long, I trust him completely.
Hopefully the trans is all set to last a good long time.
I would complain to somebody about the Mopar T.C. if I knew who exactly.
I mean, I thought the district service manager only dealt with anything to do with the original factory warranty on all stock parts. I think as soon as the guy took a look at my truck, he would just laugh and send me packing.
I don't want to lose my temper again. The last time it cost me way more then it was worth, in time and money.
Live and learn sure is expensive.

Take care of your selves, and your truck's

Chuck D.
