I have done a soa on my 87 yj. My problem now is hooking up my steering from the gear box to the drag link. I put on a 4 inch drop pitman arm but when my suspension is at full travel the steering arm hits my leaf spring. What can I do to stop this ? I thought the drop pitman arm would be enough .
Any help would be great.

M.O.R.E. makes a nice little bracket that works great. If you can fabricate you can copy the bracket as I did. Moves the drag link above the springs. The poor boy route is to heat up and bend the drag link but this will weaken it greatly and will bend even more under stress. You can add gussets to it but that is very booty fab and may get it towed if the law doesnt like what they see.

If you have the cash then another way is to swap in a dana 44 front with flat top arms. It will move the tie rod and drag link above the springs. Do a search on the web and you will find lots of solutions.

HEY FAWKER, do you got some pics to show how that bracket worked out? what did you do about the new drag link? dont you have to install a new one with the M.O.R.E. kit?

I hunted around on the net but could not find anything about this M.O.R.E kit. I do have fabrication skills and most of the equipment to make almost anything. If you know where I could see this set up let me know. Depending on how much work is needed I may just swap in a dana 44 I would much rather do a wack of work to a better axle than my stock dana 30. But I would love to see this kit

Thanks Cowboy.
I'm going to try and fab. something .Dont have a problem buying good stuff for it. But I dont think its a good idea to put that much coin into the stock axle .
Talked to A local 4x4 shop . They wanted over 1200.00 for the m.o.r.e. kit.

definetly not worth it then, let me know how your fab goes, pics and stuff always help, might even try to swindle you into making some for some coin pending on how they turn out and if your willing.

If you have the know how and equipment to do it do the same thing I did. Print off every picture of the more bracket you can go into the garage and build one. I dont have pictures but I retained the factory tie rod and drag link so I could get parts easily. The tie rod stayed in the factory location. The drag link ran parallel to the tie rod just 8" higher above the springs. The bracket got bolted on using two of the factory bolts that hold the hub on and a 1/2 bolt drilled through the knuckle close to where the tie rod hooks up. You must use lock tight to insure this bracket wont come off unless you want it to. Unless you are VERY confident in you skills I would not recommend doing this. This is not a place for booty fab!

o.k Im about to take my axle apart for the 10th time. o-well nothin better to do. Going to have Sageman help me figure out a way to bring the draglink above the spring . Now a different question. Bigfoot has some 4 inch lift springs for sale. I would like them but I would be going from a mostly stock rig to a soa at 5.5 inches of lift + 4 inches with the springs. I have not had any driveshafts made yet nor have I bought shocks. I was planning to stuff some 35's on it for tires but again have not bought them yet . It would be cool to stuff some bigger rubber under it 38 's ? I will be running with aprox 220 to 240 hp, should be enough. question is is this too much lift to blast on. would the truck still be o.k for minor road use ? to \ from the trail. whats everyone think ?

Well Im getting The springs from Bigfoot. And will run with 38"s. Im keeping my rear axle stock for now ( dana 35c ) as he has some spare axle shafts for it. The front axle I am going to try and find a dana 44 for it.
Then Im going to divorce court as my wife is going to kick my @$$ then leave me and probably take the jeep with her

Ok as for the drag link hitting the spring, if you put a 1/2 inch block/spacer in there that will fix that problem. But if you are going with 4" lift springs, you will have to go high steer. Its safe to assume that you already have a sye eliminator and cv driveshaft for the rear? As well as shackle reversal for the front with a lift spring? Or are you planning on keeping the trac bar connected while driving?

Im not going to put in the trac bar. I will see how it works with out it. I can always put it in later. No I do not have my driveshafts or sye in yet nor do I have a engine or tranny. This all started of to be a little lift and 33's. Im now at aprox 9.5 lift going with 38 's . Ive been hunting around for a sye kit for a np 231 c t-case. But there are a hole wack of em . Some cheap some expensive. anybody have any feedback on sye. kits. ???
My steering problem is not an issue anymore. Im swaping out my stock axles ( kinda have to now ) . I think d 44 front and 44 or 60 in the rear.
