carb bogging out on hills, Now it's puking gas out even on the street, flood stalled in 3rd yesterday! It has been rebuilt, adjusted 50+ times, it's a holley for the street Not for 4x4ing

Any suggestions?

Was told that Goliath? had a Holley Avenger? Throw out what you know, I'm not wheelin' until I get one that I can count on!

Thanks,

I have the Holley Truck Avenger in my 401 and it works great on the hills.

One thing that I noticed was the jetting on the holleys is terrible. If your spilling fuel and running bad its probably your jets. I just changed mine this weekend and I already notice the difference.......even without a proper tune up.

My 401 came with the motorcraft 4350 carb, and when I swapped motors it went on my 360. It did allright on hills, but as soon as the heep would bounce it would cut out on me.

So I went with a quadrajet on my 360. The install wasn't bad but there are a few things to think about. The spreadbore/square bore adapter from partsource is about $20 but if you have the spreadbore amc intake it will take a bit of machining to make the quadrajet fit. The linkage might also need a bit of tweeking to make work.

Now I can stop and go in the middle of hillclimbs which previously used to take me full throttle assaults to make over. I would never run a carter afb or edelbrock carb off road, they're strictly street carbs as far as I'm concerned.

Propane is great off road, but your range would be reduced. FI would be the hot ticket, but the $1500 (rough guess) price tag's a bit scary. So the holley truck avenger, or the quadrajet are the only logical solutions IMO.
