I know there was a thread about this allready but there wasn't really a conclusion.

Where does the pressure originate from? cam berings? Oil pump?

I have no oil pressure at idle and when i rev it up I get noise in the valves and the pressure gauge only moves to 1.

So I assume oil isn't makeing it up to the head.

I would greatly apprecite any advice.

The oil pump creates FLOW restrictions to FLOW(oil being forced thru a small orfice, ie bearings) creates PRESSURE.

I would start with the oil pump and if you are up to it and you have the pan off anyway you could plasti-guage a few main caps and con-rods to see what their condition is.

are you checking the oil pressure with the gauge on the dash or do you have a actual pressure gauge hooked up to the motor ? sounds like ya do have some pump problems if the top end is making noise. Like Clay said if yer going to pull off the pan to check it out. Replace the pump and you might as well check out the brngs also. I had a pump problem in my last yj at aprox 170 km. I did the pump and threw in some brngs. I pulled that motor at 327 km. still worked no problem just wanted a SBC. If ya need a gauge to make sure theres no oil pressure pm me and I will see what I can do .
