I've got a F150 with a 5L that randomly will not start, No click nothing.. I've replaced the clutch sensor, and the starter solinoid.. I have a clifford alarm, and am unaware of how to disable it, disconnecting the battery cable shuts down the truck.

Any idea's..??

If you don't use the alarm system and you want to eliminate it go to the top of the steering colum that is were the disabler is cut into it will be on the big yellow wires. If you don't want to do that next time it won't start check for power at the solenoid with the key in crank position and go from there. my 2 cents

It's a 96.. The alarm isn't causing the problem, ruled that out the other day, with the installer. But good to know where the cuting for the disabler is.. Thanks..

I think it's the ignition switch itself.. Is there anything I can check if it does it again..??

A real quick way is next time it does it put a test light on the small terminal on the starter solenoid and hold the key on start. Also there is a actuator that goes from the key to inj switch looks like a hockey stick I have changed hundreds of these on tilt colums. pm me if you need more info.

have you checked your coil? your timing? possibility could be your coil on it's lasts legs. could be a broken or loose connection in the coil. might be time to pull out thr timing light.

There is a connector on the starter motor that may need to be replaced. There is a kit that you can buy from the parts store to fix this problem. Very common on the 90's fords.

One of the tech's ran into something similar to this at work today.......newer truck though, not sure it applies to older models. However, the daytime running light modual was the cause. It would also intermitantly not shut off, and kill the battery. Probably has no connection, but this reminded me of it, and I thought it kinda funny. And an interesting bit of information to have.
