Tear it and the insulation out and paint in some Rino box liner. Its cheap and easy. Did my XJ for $60 and that was 3 really thick coats. I also put down 2 coats of POR15 before that. Turned out really nice.

Held up great so far.

i thought of going with the boxliner but i was wanting something a little more sound proof. i wonder if you could paint a flexible boxliner over some kind of foam rubber or something comparable...all the comfort of carpet and you could wash it with a pressure washer

Do the box liner and then get some cheap carpet from crappy tire that is black and ment for outdoor use. You can buy it by the foot and it conforms rather well. Then put your rubber mats on top of all that and it will be VERY durable and sound proof. When your going wheeling pull the carpet and mats and then just preasure wash the truck when you get back.
