...... I dont do much wheeling but want to do more. I want 33s and i am still trying to decide whether to go 4" springs or SOA and put the stock springs back on. I know ive posted before and i realize some are getting sick of this but what would be my best bet. remember im a noob and let me know what you figure.
thx

depends really. i have 2 1/2" springs already in there, but i can get stockers cheap. i have a buddy who owns a suspension shop here in peace river and he will do the SOA for about $200(parts and some beers)

So price isnt really a bother for me, by the time i buy 4" springs used its the same as SOA w/ stockers.

The diff is for shit like nose diving when braking, axle wrap, dealing with drag link angles, ride, flex, clearance.....etc...If i go 4" rather then SOA (5-6") i dont get the clearance, and im not too keen on a body lift.
I already have a SYE waiting to go in, so i have to purchase a d-shaft anyways. so that isnt much diff either.

SOA with shackle reversal in front and coil the rear. If ya can do a lot of the work yourself it ain't that expensive.

Well i am still gonna call bullshit about a set of fullsize diffs "bolting" into a yj with no mods.

I'll ask spot. See what he says.

I don't think fullsize rigs have their spring perches that close together... I mean, I could be wrong, but last time I checked, fullsize diffs had the leaf perches like, 6" further out than YJ perches...

thats what i figured....the perch width must be way off, but the diff between cj and yj i dont think is substantial

Actually, some Ford hp 60's will bolt right up. The distance on the perches are 31-1/4" on some Fords, and YJ's perches are an even 31. That means 1/8" outboard on each pack, which is neglegable. The pinion output is almost identical to the YJ's as well, within a 1/2" or so. Yea, of course you will still have to work out the steering, but that's pretty much expected on any swap or SOA. Depending on the final height of the SOA, for optimal wheel travel, you will probably have to relocate the shock mounts, but, again, that's almost a gimme on any SOA.
