It'll make it a bit louder as it'll resonate more, it may make your exhaust stink more. The convertor breaks down CO (carbon monoxide-the silent killer) and other pollutants like NOx and produces CO2 (carbon dioxide-that plants turn into oxygen) and H2O water vapor. You'll fail any air care testing but your truck is old enough to not have an oxygen sensor in the exhaust after the convertor to monitor performance so your engine light will stay off. If you're after power it may help a small small amount, if it's plugged anyways you might as well rip it out. Is there air care testing in Florida like California or can you do what you want? It won't hurt the truck. It'll help you do a small part to ruin the environment, but that's up to you. If you're after more power, then follow everybody's advice and get a V8. Good luck cowboy.

Thanks alot for the help riggins, i forgot to mention in the previous post that i put flowmasters on my truck back in july of this year and it still doesent sound good like other trucks i hear, i understand that this has to do with engine size, but cuttin off the converter, is that gonna make it roar like other trucks, or will it sound like a piece of crap riceburner?

It's still gonna be a 300 straight six. It's two less horses whinnyin' cowboy. No amount of exhaust will make it sound the same as the "other trucks" you hear. Sometimes cutting out a cat will make a rice burner sound because of the resonance. I cut the cat out of my chevy beretta GTZ and the muffler resonated and brapped like crazy until the welds broke and it fell right off. The straight pipe may help you but it won't give you more power or noise. You said you put flowmasters on it. Two? On a six? Duals? or two in a row. You can get zoomie headers for that engine that give you two outputs instead of one off your exhaust manifold but that's a lot of pipe, mufflers, clamps and work and it'll sound even stranger than now. If the cat isn't plugged it's probably not worth cutting it off. Unless you have a huge engine with a lot of airflow it's not gonna be choked by that cat. If you're ripping everything else off anyways, rip it off and use flowmaster 40 series or american thunder mufflers not a muffler for the stock application as they'll be louder. Big pipe usually gives you a deeper tone but with a 300 it's anybodies guess what it'll sound like. Are you after power or sound?? Sound is easy. Power for your 300...the best thing is to let it blow up accidentaly and convince yourself you need a bigger engine. not need. DESERVE. yeah.

Eh, i guess u r rite about the engine size and like you asked my exhaust is singe in dual out.. The only reason i dont accidently blow it up like you suggested is because im only 16 and my dad uses the truck once in a blue moon... he still is sayin i cant put a big engine in it cause of gas money and "there is nothin wrong wit that engine".. :( i guess ill just give up on the whole project... maybe save up for some ltb super swampers.. too bad i only make 87 $ a week and 20 of it goes for insurance another 10 to my "savings account" which im not allowed to touch and some money for gas so i come out with about around 40 or 50 $ to spend out of my weeks pay.......... wow it sux being a poor teenager without a huge lifted 1979 ford f-150 with 49 inch boggers and a 460 engine....
