before the driveshafts start to get at too much of a angle? The vehicle is a 88 XJ Pioneer.

General rule of thumb is 3" some not even that much. Dropping the t-case1" and rotating the rear diff up will gain you some more. This is what I had to do to run 5" in the back.

After 3" the steering and control arms needs to be addressed as well. Its been said that on an XJ the first 3" of lift cost $1000(if using a complete kit with all new springs, lines, bump stops, etc) and every 1" there after will cost $1000(trac bar, control arms, slip yoke eliminator(SYE), etc). This is if you buy all new parts and all the RECOMMENDED parts. It can be done cheaper.

Check out www.naxja.org for more info.

naxja.org aint worth my time. They wont send me a freakin activation link. Ive told them via email that I need it and they still wont send it.

I measured the front and rear of my jeep and the rear is 2 3/4" and the front is 4 3/4" between the flare and the tire, I might end up sayin screw the front lift and put a 2" block on the back to level it out. That would be the easiest thing for me to do since I dont have the money to put a 3" kit in the back and 2" in the front to keep it level. Autozone has a 2" lift block set for about $40.

NAXJA IS worth your time. It is the biggest source of XJ info on the net. Even if you cann't post, you can still look other posts and get some great ideas.

2" blocks are not a good idea on an XJ They put to much leverage on the main leaf and cause massive axle wrap and will make it crack. Happened to me and a few others I know. Stay under 1" for the block and use and longer shackles. If your XJ is sagging 2" in the back then your rear leaf springs are toast anyway and need to be replaced. May as well put in a whole new 3" leaf pack and go spacers upfront.

How much would new 2 or 2.5" rear springs cost?

I don't think anyone makes full leaf packs under 3". Other than stock anyway. Cann't help with prices you are down south and up here we use that funny colored money($$CDN$$).
