I have a 88 F-150. When I try to use 4-hi my transfer case makes a grinding noise that has rattled the fillings out of my head. 4 low and 2 hi work perfect. Before I pay someone to look at this thing does anyone know what it may be. Last time I used 4 low it made no noise so it just started all of a sudden?

I had the EXACT same problem when I first brought my 90. Thanks to Vern to this day, I probably woulda went through transfer cases like nothing.

On the shifter the diagram is NOT exactly right. Shift it to where it says the 4 hi is supposed to be..... then just tap it up til you feel another click

So as best as I can, heres how its supposed to be
