Another easy type trip...doing a little scouting for some good wheelin. This is about 15 minutes from my place. I was the only one around for miles. (Stay the fawk away...it's mine )
On the road up to a favourite ol' huntin spot

Up on top of a mountain. This is views from all four directions. You can see the Selkirks and the Rockies from here. A hike over the top of the Rockies right behind me is absolutely gorgeous. Huge slides loaded with bears and marmotts and a little further is a pretty little, ice cold lake full of big trout.

Down below here (the rock) is a long valley plug full of these babies! Have to walk it someday and pick a route through it.
Up the valley about 6 miles is the most awesome rock strewn place around here. I'm having trouble remembering how to get into it though.
The old roads we used to use are blocked off now. Some rich fukker bought 3000 acres and all the old roads used to go through there. I'll find it though. Need to get a little bigger tires and some recovery equipment before I start gittin into this rugged shit.

Yup...I got a huge grin alright! Even better...the lil' fawkin neighbour brats have discovered REALLY loud rap music on a cheap POS boom box. Nice to get the fuk away from that ugly shit.
Funny...I started wheelin these places years ago in an old CJ2A with the stock 4 banger. Had only one front brake
Then went to a 1955 CJ5, later swapped a 327 into it. It had 3 brakes . Used to fly down these steep grades...no roll bar, piss poor brakes....good ol' times!

Colin...it's got a new set of 31X10.50's on it now. I really like them on the highway and on the logging roads.
I'm still not sure what size of dedicated wheelin tires I want yet. I'd like 35 boggers like I had on my rail once but don't care for the lifespan of them.
I've had my fill of mud and am likin this rock thing...don't have to power wash off the rocks
So I'm not sure yet.

Ya I hear ya I'm more into the rocks and the snow. Snow melts and no more mess!!!! i was in some pretty serious mud yesterday. I had to butcher pigs for a guy and it was 1km in to get to them of nasty rutts and mud the Superduty got a work out. Hey what about the Irock tires i have some buddies with em and they are getting great performance and tire life. Or maybe a set of bfg muds. Anyway it's good to see the ol girl moving on it's own. Now we can plan a trip or two.

Funny...they hardly stock any 15" tires here anymore.
They have 17's and 18's(?) and I think 20's in a lot of different tires but very few in 15". Weird...

Dammitt...looks like I lied about the great gas mileage.... Can't stay out of the damm thing. Every chance I get I have to take it out for a test drive....had to test drive the new rear bumper I just finished....had to test drive the new oil I just put in...had to test drive the new slip yoke seal..etc. Burning lots of fuel...but covering lots of territory!

Yup..it's a pretty fair walk up to it. I haven't been there in years. I can't even tell you where the trail takes off anymore.
