Hey there,

Wondering if anbody out there would know if the bell housing from a late 70's 351mod would bolt up to a 460(81-83). I would appreciate the input.
The tranny is a np435 if it makes any differance.

429 and 460 are the exact same block with just bore size differences.

Actually bore sizes are the same; it is the stroke that is different, 3.59" for a 429 and 3.85" for a 460. Bores for both in stock blocks are 4.36"

Okay first of all, you are using a 70's 351m / 400 bell housing correct ? Next, what flywheel are you using, a 81-83 460 is externally balanced so the flywheel should have a weight attached to it somewhere. Is this the original flywheel from the engine and if not what is it from ?

I put a 70 model 460 in place of my old 400M and the best thing you can do with that piece of shit 3-fingered ordeal is throw it in the biggest mud hole around and let some boggers rework it. The bellhousing is just simply to short to work with them if you will take a pressure plate from a regular clutch kit and drill all the holes around the outside one size bigger (so the stupid thing will fit it will be so close to center you'll never know) and run a tap through the holes in the flywheel you should be fine if you don't already have the holes without threads like I did then just put your clutch & pressure plate on the flywheel in the center use the line up tool for help (measure the outside edge of pressure plate with out side of flywheel move around to all sides are equal) an dimple the center of the holes with a center punch and drill
