Have aquired a TH400 with the @#!%** Quadra trac T-case on it. The QT has to go. What is the best option??Going in a CJ so I need a pass side drop, and as short as possible! Looking to handle gobs of HP too.

If this is for your CJ just use the 20. There's lots of upgrade parts out there now.
I'd use a TH350. I wasn't all that impressed with the 400 in my buggy. Really noticed the extra rotational mass even behind my Rodeck.
I'm assuming you're keeping your 366...

Still not sure what form the 366 will be in. Too high of compression for what I have in mind for the CJ. Boob has a TH400 he'll throw in with the deal. It's good cause the bolt pattern works out. May go with a TF 727 yet, I can get one with a NP 208 t-case. Length will probably be the deciding factor.

Ask junior about the big chunks of flywheel that came up through the floorboards, cut the frame in half, bent the front driveshaft like a pretzel and cut the fuel lines that caused a big gas explosion....with lots of serious hp and a manual tranny.
You got a motor like he's got...you don't want to be fawkin with oem manual stuff. Think 8500 rpm and a clutch...

Rev limiter was set for 7400 rpm, running around 500HP on a hot AMC 360 with a 250HP hit of nitrous on top of that, pressure plate let go and the pieces were flying!!!! Fire and nitrous are not good together. Good thing the electric fuel pumps were disconnected by the flying flywheel chunks or it could have been down right ugly. So as to manual VS auto I think it best to go auto with high horse engines. Not as much fun to shift but easier to handle under the circumstances, that many horses under the hood in a CJ-5 is like trying to ride a squirrel, shifting is another thing I don't need on my mind.
