Is it real bad when 2 or 3 of your connecting rods have a bit of play in them?

Engine had low oil pressure, so just starting to peak inside...
oil pickup screen is fairly clean, but has been sitting for a while.
Lotsa sludge in oil pan, I'm thinking maybe the oil lines are getting plugged, and/or or the crushed oil filter is causing problems...

Main bearings?

Any Ideas?

If I was to guess I'd say the con rods in question here are the ones towards the back of the crank? Right? AMC V-8's were notorious for poor oil flow to the rear of the crank. Typically the last 2-3 conrods and the rear 2 main bearings wear out faster than the front. If your oil pressure has dropped a fair bit in a short amount of time it can also be the oil pump. It is two gears and a spring with a plunger in it. The gears can wear out and are easy to change but the cover that holds the gears in is critical to the oil pumps performance too. Once worn the pressure goes down because the suction becomes less due to excess space on the end of the gears. You can get new cover plates and new gears if this is the culprit. A crushed oil filter can cause pretty serious restrictions and your pressure may go down also. If you are thinking the oil lines are plugged you should probably change your oil more often as there really shouldn't be anything big or nasty enough to plug up a line that is under that much pressure.
