Don't know if any of you remember...I put a Warn M8000 on my Yota with one of the Crappy tire batteries that look like Optima batteries but are cheaper.
I was going to buy the lighter weight 9000 wizbang rock crawler winch til I talked to a Warn tech guy. He told me the guts where the same as the M8000 and that the actual winch was only 3 pounds heavier that the bling competition model.
Glad I didn't buy the comp winch now.
Been using the hell outta this one...dragging firewood logs out of the bush behind my place.
My last winch...a Ramsey 8000 with the best HD battery you could buy at the time...was a pretty good rig but the Warn is a lot better so far. The difference in the battery power is bloody amazing.
With this thing I can drag two 10 inch trees out at the same time...most are 70 to 85 feet long and wet. They are freakin heavy. The old Ramsey outfit would have drug one but I would have stopped to recharge the battery a couple times.
This thing will jerk both trees all the way on with no recharge....then pull out another 75 feet of cable and do it again....and again.
Lots of times I'm lifting the back end of the truck off the ground. Not pullin a heavy chevy with 44's out of a mile long mud pit but it's still turned out to be a damm good rig.
Money well spent!

Thnx for the info!
Most batts are made by only 2 USA companies; Johnson Controls is a good one
yo gang, I purchased this battery last week at WAL MART® (battery is not listed in their web site)

It is mfg. by Johnson Controls & produces this EXACT SAME battery (CCA, etc.) for many auto makers and retailers under different product names such as:
Motorcraft® silver BXT-65-850; ~$100.00 to $120.00 Plus $104.95 + tax, etc. at your local friendly Ford dealer
Sears Die Hard Gold 33065 $105. +
Auto Zone (Duralast Gold)
Eveready
Everstart
Interstate Mega-Tron Plus $104.95 + tax, etc.
Toyota (TrueStart)
Mitsubishi (Diamond Car Care)
Mazda
Advance Auto (Autocraft Titanium)
Costco (Kirkland Signature)
Pep Boys (ProStart & Energizer)
btw, Johnson also mfg. Optima brand

WAL MART - SEP 07 Price; excellent price $61.00 w/ 7% sales tax and free installation. The warranty is 3yr free and 108 month pro-rata
CCA: 875 amps @ 0 degree F/ CA = 1090 amps @ 32° F; Reserve capacity: 165 mins

compare CCA etc to Optima YellowTop
CCA = 500 amps @ 0 degree F/ CA = 625 amps at 32° F; Reserve capacity: 70 minutes .

Ted...I THINK I got a pretty good deal from a buddy at NAPA here. Was about $850 w/cable. You could prolly doo better in the big city.
Since my last post I've worked the crap out of the winch/battery even more. Still no problems.
