It's the drag link. They are adjustable. There's a theaded plug in each end that pushes on a heavy spring, that pushes on cup. If it's not worn too bad, you can turn the plugs in and tighten the whole assembly, that is if the plugs aren't totally rusted in. Pull the cotter pins that keep the plugs from backing out. Probably have to warm it up a bit with a torch ( I know "warming" sterring parts is a no-no).

If you can't adjust it, I might have one in the garage, or check with "Phishs Toy" on the board here, I'm sure he has one.

WD, acetlylene, and a bf pipe wrench will solve that (oh, don't forget to relocate the drag link to a vice).

What's crossover steering? is that what my old Jeep YJ had?

My truck seems to already have a bit of a lift......'cause it's got 33's on it now. I don't think I'll go much bigger.....<yeah right> what benifit's would I get with your drag link? I know, I've got allot to learn....<sigh>

x over steering is far more reliable than stock and far stronger as well your suspension doesn't hang from your steering when articulating . Go to Advance Off Road Reaserch.com everything else you need to know is there .

Here's Allpros desc of x-over steering..

"The term crossover steering means that the drag link goes from the pitman arm on the steering box and crosses over to the steering arm on the right hand steering knuckle. This steering design has been around for years although it was never offered on Toyota Pickups and 4Runners."

For futher Details or to understand High Steer - Xover see the following link:
